Snow Family!

Dear Molly and Maddy,

I am a few days behind here… but one day last week, we were expecting a lot of snow so we made plans for a snow day! You guys both wanted to make snowmen! Come to think of it, it really was your first real snowmen! Mimi and her friend Tyler (you call him TyTy) came over to help! Maddy said she wanted to build 14 snowmen! But, we ended up settling with a mommy, daddy and two baby twins! You guys bundled up and headed out with Mimi while I quickly did a load of laundry. Two minutes later I heard the doorbell and two little voices screaming for me. I hurried to the door to see what was the matter. You were standing there frantically shouting for scarves- your snowmen were cold! So we hooked up the snow family with hats, scarves, and purses/bows for the little girls. We also happened to be out of carrots… so we used strawberries and chocolate chips to make our snowmen! Good job, girlies! Afterwards, we went to the backyard and played on the swing set! You were having so much fun you didn’t want to come in… I had to lure you with hot chocolate!

It’s been a week now and the snowmen still adorn our front yard. You say bye to them every time we pull out of our driveway!

Dance Off’s Are Way More Fun Than Cleaning

Hey babes!

Hope Daddy doesn’t mind we didn’t do any laundry today… because we were busy doing things that were really important- dance party’s! We stopped by Nana’s house to wish Nick a safe flight before he left for Nashville and, of course, we had to have another Dance Off. And, per usual, Maddy only wanted to dance to Destiny’s Child’s- Bootylicious. This was more of a free style dance off- you didn’t break out all of your famous moves… but check it out here:

We’re leaving Nana’s now to go visit Daddy at work… pictures to follow! πŸ™‚

Your Happy Birthday Song

Dear Molly and Maddy,

Aunt Mimi videotaped us singing happy birthday to you on Saturday! You guys were so funny- you usually LOVE singing happy birthday! That day, I guess we were too loud? You guys covered your ears as soon as we started singing. But… the funniest part, is how identically your hands moved.

People often ask me questions about you being identical twins. Do they sleep at the same time? Wake up at the same time? Do they say the same things? Do they eat at the same time? Did they walk at the same time? You get it. The truth is, a lot of times you do things at the same time. But, that’s probably likely due to our schedule… we eat together at the same time, you go to bed at the same time. Because we eat and drink at the same time, you usually have to go potty at the same time… it’s not some freaky twin thing.. it’s just our schedule. But- this was kinda funny. You sure do look like identical twins here!

Watch quickly and keep an eye on your hands; it happens in the first few seconds!

Lazy Sunday!

Hi girlies!

So, there seems to be a growing trend in our house this winter: lazy Sunday’s!! After a busy week and usually something to do on Saturday, your dad loves nothing more than being lazy all day Sunday, watching cartoons and eating lots of food. And you seem to enjoy it too! Today was a great day to do it because you had all your birthday presents to play with! Half the morning was spent on your new Leap Pads (which you call your “iPads”). You actually learned how to use them pretty quickly! ‘Cause you’re so smart πŸ™‚

We did make a quick trip to Target and to pick up a TV Gaga let us have for Maddy’s room. Mommy spent some time tucked away in her room writing a paper and Daddy BBQ’d dinner for us- you LOVE BBQ- but aside from that, we enjoyed not doing a whole lot! That’s the way Sunday’s should be! πŸ™‚

Oh, and both of your big girl rooms are finally complete! Curtains are hung, pictures are hung, walls are painted, new furniture is in, TV/DVD player for each of you to watch your movies before bed… you girls are all set! (I’ll try to post some pictures of your rooms tomorrow!) But anyways… I was telling you today that now you guys could decide each night if you wanted to sleep together in Maddy’s room, together in Molly’s room, or each in your own room- then you could pick out your own movie and you wouldn’t bump into each other at night at wake up. There was no thought involved in your decision. It came quickly:

Molly: Together!! Me sissy’s girl!
Maddy: Yeah! Me Molly’s girl! Great idea!

Love you, pumpkins! πŸ™‚

HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY, MOLLY AND MADDY!!

IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY!!

IMG_0688

First of all, I have to say I justΒ cannotΒ  believe you are 3 years old! I swear you were just little babies yesterday! In a blink of an eye, you girls have turned from little preemie babies, to beautiful, smart and funny little girls! In the last year, so much has changed! You moved into your new house, you made lots of new friends, your speech has just taken off, you became potty trained, you moved from cribs to toddler beds to big girl beds, your hair has doubled in length and have become the funniest people I have ever met! I love you more than I can even put into words!

We started off celebrating your birthday last night! Your daddy stayed home to paint Maddy’s room (pink!) so I thought we’d get out of his way and go out to dinner. We just ran up to Applebee’s where Mimi and her boyfriend Tyler met up with us. You guys love being “out on the town”. You were so giddy and hyper and really silly. A couple times I had to quiet you guys down and threaten to “go home if you don’t sit on your butts”… but for the most part, we had a blast! You both wanted cheeseburgers and at the end of the meal, all the waitresses came over to sing you happy birthday! You covered your ears the whole time and weren’t sure what to make of it, but you sure enjoyed your free ice cream πŸ™‚

Today was the real party! Everyone came over at 3:30 and we played, laughed, had pizza and cake. You got way too many presents!! You have a whole new spring/summer wardrobe- 10 new pairs of pants, countless shirts, 2 new bathing suits, beach towels, cover ups, 2 pairs of shoes, a new coat… each! You also got some new Pandora charms (you are the only 3 year olds with Pandora bracelets I know! Even the guy at the Pandora store thought I was crazy), some new games (you freaked out everytime the “Pop the Pig” game commercial came on TV) and Daddy and I got you Leap Pads (but we call them iPads πŸ™‚ )…. there are still more presents to come! S-P-O-I-L-E-D!!

Before bed, you guys wanted to look at all your baby pictures. So, all four of us climbed on Maddy’s bed and looked through all your NICU and newborn pictures. You kept saying “aww, so cute!”. And you’re right- you were the cutest babies ever! And I guess all the present opening must have worn you guys out… because you were passed out in 5 minutes tonight! You each have your own room with full sized beds, but most nights you prefer to sleep like this… cuddled up on the pillow in the same bed! I love you guys!

I hope you guys enjoyed your birthday as much as I did. Oh, I forgot to mention… we talked all week about you guys turning 3 until, Maddy, you informed me that you wanted to be 14! The rest of the week was a big joke about you being 14. Every time I would say, “no, 3!”, you would say “no, mommy! 14! abba cadaba 14! see!” haha… you guys are crazy!

And no matter if you are 3 or 14, you will still be my babies! I love you girlies! Happy birthday!!

Love,

Mom

Another fun week in the books!

Hi babies!

A few days late but we had another fun and busy week together! On Friday, Aunt Mimi came over for a sleepover! We made a huge fort, watched Tangled and ate popcorn. Afterwards, you didn’t want to go to bed… you insisted on having a dance party! So, we stayed up super late and danced! Molly, you’ll dance to anything. Maddy, you had the biggest meltdown when Destiny’s Child Bootylicious ended… so we had to replay it and replay it, over and over again! It was a fun night!

521327_10100823353719644_593589586_nThe dance party continued throughout the week. On Monday, you guys were playing quietly in the morning so I tried to sneak upstairs to make some beds. This conversation followed:

Maddy: (screaming) Mom! Mom! Hurry!!
Me: What? What do you need?
Maddy: iPad!!
Me: You NEED an iPad?
Maddy: Yeah! Really bad!
Me: Why do you need an iPad really bad?
Maddy: Uh, mom! Play music! Dance party!

The rest of the week consisted of the normal stuff- visits to Gaga’s house, to Nana’s house, and a trip out to Aunt Yun Yun’s house. Nana hadn’t seen her new house yet, so we took her out to see it. And most importantly… it was your last week of being TWO years old!! I can’t believe it!!

Love you so much!

Mom

The last two days…

My dearest babies,

I really do love you sooo much. You are so funny, you are smart, you are beautiful, you make me laugh, you make my heart literally feel warm…. you are pretty close to perfect. The only thing holding you back from being perfect, you ask? YOUR SLEEPING! My gosh, can I get a break around here?

Since I brought you home nearly three years ago, the two of you have woken me up roughly 3-5 times a night. I can count on one hand how many times I slept through the night, and on those nights you were likely sleeping over Aunt Lauren’s house. I am tired!! I tried it all, from CIO to crib tents, and everything in between. When we moved to our new house we transitioned from cribs to toddler beds. More recently, about two weeks ago, we transitioned to big girl beds! You have shared a room together your entire lives. Now, you each have your own room with your own full size bed. We tried to sleep in the big girl beds a few months ago. You weren’t quite ready. You would fight, scream, terrorize, play, destroy, etc for hours before you finally passed out or I put you in the car to drive around for a half hour before you fell asleep. Here is one example of what would happen after tucking you into your big, comfy beds:Image

It just wasn’t working out. πŸ™‚ So, we waited a few months, we painted your room, we bought new furniture, and we made the “big girl beds”super exciting!

ImageThe first week was a-mazing! You preferred to sleep together in Molly’s room (I’m assuming because Maddy’s room is still waiting to be painted). You both actually got in the bed, picked out a movie and eventually fell asleep. And then, I’m not sure what happened. This past week you’ve decided it would be more fun if I stayed in your room all night. So, you quickly learned to really butter me up to try and make me stay:

“Mommy, cuddle! Mommy, you cute. Mommy, babe. Mommy best ever!”

“Me love Mommy too! Mommy cuddle!”

Girls, I would love to cuddle you to sleep every once in awhile. But some nights, I have to actually do things. And you don’t really cuddle; you move around all the time, kick me, talk, get up, get down…. and if I cuddle one night then you want me to cuddle every night! And when I can’t stay and cuddle, I really can’t accomplish anything because all I hear is my name being screamed from your room.

Girls, mommy is tired. Can you sleep like big girls? Oh, and the last two mornings of getting up at 7:30am needs to stop immediately. I just can’t.

And, needless to say… the last two days were fun of course… but they were a little longer than normal! We had like four hours of sleep on Monday! And not much more last night. Yesterday we just hung around the house and went to Nana’s for a few hours. Today, we checked out Lifetime Fitness and stopped at Gaga’s… but, you got pretty crabby today. It’s because you don’t sleep. Again, that means I don’t sleep. Please… START SLEEPING!!

I still think you are <this close> to perfect… and I love you namuch!! Hug, Kiss! πŸ™‚

Love,

Mommy

First Fitness Class!

Dear Molly and Maddy,

I forgot to post… last Friday, you guys went to your first fitness class. I can’t even tell you how many times I was asked if you were twins…. I think I might start telling people no and watch them try to figure it out… haha! Anyways, a local fitness studio was hosting a free Wee Fit class so we went to check it out. There were a few stations set up with trampolines and tunnels and basketballs. The class ended with sitting in a circle and singing some songs. You called today’s outing an “adventure” and told me all about how Dora and Diego go on adventures. Afterwards, we went out to lunch. A total stranger asked me if they could take your picture because they thought you were so cute. Molly told her no before I could even respond! Haha! You guys are too funny. Anyways, we had a fun day!IMG_0493Love,
