Family Birthday Celebrations Begin!

Molly and Maddy,

On Dad’s side of the family, there are so many birthdays in January that we just celebrate them all together. This year, we decided to wait until February to celebrate the January Birthdays since the Chicago family would be in town. So, I figured we might as well throw your March birthday in there as well! Last night, the day finally arrived and we had the entire family over to celebrate! We had lots of food, lots of fun and you got lots of presents! It was nice being able to have everyone come see our new house and to spend an evening with everyone. But it was also a reminder that your birthday is just around the corner! I can’t believe how big you are getting! πŸ™‚ 😦

Happy Valentines Day!!

Happy Valentines Day, Babies!

We spent half the day yesterday and all day today preparing and celebrating Valentines Day! The way you say it is so cute! Yesterday, after a stop at the library and Target, we came home to make our gifts. We used each of your handprints (Molly was pink, Maddy was purple) to make a heart. We wrote a cute little poem, framed it and gave them to some of the most special people in our lives: Nana, Gaga and Pop Pop, Lauren and Jon, JoJo, Bubba and Didi and Google. Today, we woke up and hit the streets; hand delivering them! We stopped at Nana’s first, where she also had a gift waiting for you and Nick gave you each a rose. We then went over to Gaga’s, and she had a gift for you too! We ran to the grocery store, home to make dinner, get Daddy’s presents ready, Β and make him cupcakes. When Daddy walked in the door from work, he came with his arms full of flowers and balloons for his three ladies! After dinner, Bubba and DiDi came over to give you yet another Valentines present! You girls sure are spoiled! We didn’t have time to go out to Lauren’s so we made plans to go there on Sunday! And we have a few other gifts to stick in the mail! Maybe we’ll make a stop to the post office tomorrow!

We had a lot of fun making our Valentines and seeing everyone today! You girls are just getting more fun by the minute! You two are the best Valentines anyone could ever ask for! I love you more than anything! Happy Valentines Day!

Mom

February 12, 2013

Today was a good day! We went to check out a preschool for next fall and you guys really seemed to like it! I plan to sign you up next month! I cannot believe you are getting ready to go to preschool already! 😦 After our school visit, we went to go hang out at Nana’s house for a bit. Then we headed back home, Uncle Adam came over to watch you for a little bit while I “helped” him with some homework, we then quickly cleaned the house, made and ate dinner and rushed out the door to do THIS:

We had so much fun!!Β You got to stay up super late and go to open swim at the Novi High School! We even got to catch some of the girls basketball game, see the Daschke’s, and run around the field house! Mimi taught you guys how to open a locker and showed you her classrooms too…. Lots of fun! And… once we got home, you were so tired out, you fell asleep in less than 5 minutes! That was secretly part of my plan πŸ˜‰

MELMO!

Last Saturday, your Daddy and I took you to see ELMO LIVE!! I think I know we were probably more excited than you guys on the way there! After stopping at Coney Island for some grub, we jumped on the expressway anxious to get there early! And only 5 minutes into our drive, I hear a “Mommy, me pee pee”. OMG!

“Molly, do you have to go on the potty?”

“Yeah.”

“Can it wait til we get there?”

“No.”

We pulled over at the very next exit, ran into a Big Boy restaurant, ushered you into the bathroom… and after looking around at the decor, you decided you could hold it after all! Really, Molly?! So, back on the road we went. We pulled in the parking garage and excitedly awoke the two sleeping beauties who had dozed off in the car. As soon as we walked into the Fox Theatre, the sleepiness had worn off! Daddy, of course, had purchased the best tickets he could.. 6th row, center… and you were excited to be there! Daddy bought you lots of goodies, light up things, candy; Mommy took you on 4 trips to the bathroom and spent the whole time watching/capturing your reaction. I don’t think I saw more than 30 seconds of the show! Instead, I had more fun watching you girls dance and seeing the expressions on your face! It was the first experience you had ever had with a live show. We haven’t even tried the movie theater yet. Two hours later, on our way home, we all had a blast and it was worth every penny! Can’t wait to go back next year! I’m so glad you girls had fun!

Dear Babies…

Dear Molly and Madelynn,

I am creating this blog for you, my babies. I am doing this as a way to journal our days together. I am so BLESSED and LUCKY to spend each and every day with you. We have so much fun together and I cherish every moment. I really do. Time is flying by so quickly. It’s exciting, but it makes me sad sometimes too! So, I wanted a way that I could look back and remember each and every moment. Hopefully, one day, you can look at this too and see how much fun we had together and watch yourselves grow. I love you two more than anything in the entire world and I am so lucky to be your mom! It seems like just yesterday I was in high school- let alone finding out I was pregnant, then holding you for the first time, and all the crazy days thereafter. I can’t believe you will be turning 3 in just a matter of weeks! No matter how old you get, or what new things you are doing, you will always be my babies! I love you girls so much! I hope you enjoy reading this one day!

I love you,

Mommy.

2013

We’re a month into 2013 so I’ll give a keep re-cap. So much has changed! Molly and Madelynn, you go to speech therapy every Thursday at ECC. You really enjoy it and it has helped your speech so much! I knew there would never be a problem, but you were a little bit behind in your speech, so I thought we would be proactive. It was frustrating, at times, for all of us, when you weren’t able to form sentences. You knew what you wanted or what you were trying to say, but you just couldn’t get the words out. You would become discouraged and crabby. In the last few months, you went from saying one word at a time to now four or five. You don’t stop talking now!! And you are so darn funny… I just crack up at the things that come out of your mouth sometimes! In early January, I left one day to get a pedicure. I came home to hear that Molly had fallen down the stairs and was limping. The next day at the doctor (who you hated), we found out you actually broke your heel! It was purple, everyone signed it and we called it your magic boot. The first time you looked at me with tears in your eyes and said “too tight, mommy off please”, I got tears in my eyes too and almost cut the darn thing off myself! But, within days, you were back to running around, jumping and break dancing! That magic boot didn’t phase you! The first few days, we stuck around the house to help you get used to it. In those few days, both of you girls became potty trained! I couldn’t believe how easy it was! You just did it and never looked back! We also took you out of your “baby beds” (toddler beds) and into your big girl rooms! Molly’s room was painted purple and you both have been sleeping together every night. Maddy’s room will be painted pink this week… I wonder if she will want to go to her own bed then or keep sharing with sissy? Either way is fine with me! The magic boot came off a week ago and I was so proud of both my girls! Maddy stuck right by her sister, covering her ears when the saw got loud, and Molly didn’t cry at all! (If you knew how much you hated Dr.’s offices, you’d know why this was a big deal!) We brought a “magic dress” with us and covered our faces with it so the Dr. couldn’t see us! It worked! The boot came off, no tears were shed, and we all are super happy! The first thing we did when we got home was jump in the tub! It had been a month since you girls could play in the bath tub together so you surely made up for it- you were in the tub splashing and playing for almost 2 hours that night!

All and all, January was a big month of change for you girls. You just grew up over night! It’s exciting and sad! But you will always be my babies no matter how big you get! πŸ™‚
